Su Zhongyao
Su Zhongyao (b. 1995, Quanzhou, Fujian) graduated with a BFA in Chinese ink
figures painting from the School of Chinese Painting at the Central Academy of
Fine Arts (CAFA) in 2019, and received an MFA in Fine Art Media from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London (UCL) in 2022. Currently based in Shenzhen, Guangdong, his practice spans painting, installation, video, photography, conceptual text, and performance art, exploring themes of technology and temporality, mythology and narrative, spirituality and ritual. His works have been exhibited at the CAFA Art Museum (Beijing), Today Art
Museum (Beijing), Guangzhou Rooftop Art Center (Guangzhou), Three Shadows Xiamen Photography Art Centre (Xiamen), Slade School of Fine Art Main Building (London), Barbican Arts Group Studio (London), ASC Gallery (London), Boomer Gallery (London), Arthill Gallery (London), and Prince Charles Cinema (London). In 2025, the artist held his first solo exhibition, ‘Envisioning Photographs from the Black-box’, at the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre in Xiamen.
