Ma Rui,《Waiting for the Red Colt to Enter the Dream of the Wind》,15 × 15 cm, Materials: Acrylic, resin, ink, paint, oil on canvas,2026,
Description: The red colt never fully appears, yet its presence is unmistakable—“one may sense it, yet words fall away.” There is no need for sight; the heart bears witness.
It may be a fleeting strand of light, a sudden pause in time, or the distant echo of hooves aligning, by chance, with the rhythm of one’s heartbeat. The colt is the embodiment of “vague and elusive—within it, there is form,” a manifestation of the intangible made perceptible. Yesterday is today’s memory; tomorrow, today’s dream. To wait for the colt is, in truth, to wait for an encounter with the self. When grass and wood dissolve, clarity arrives of its own accord.
