Jane Chen

Born in 1976 Graduated from Fujian Normal University,Lives and works in Xiamen, Fujian,Independent artist.

Chen Jane is adept at working with a wide range of materials, moving fluidly
between different styles and visual languages. Her works resemble a series of visual
journeys—each one unfolding as a new act of exploration.

In her oil paintings, she turns a contemplative gaze inward. Through subtle color
transitions and refined handling, she conveys a quiet, introspective vitality, allowing
an inner sense of life to emerge with restraint and depth.

In some of her abstract mixed-media works, layered and weathered colors are built up
to release the subconscious through textured surfaces. The tactile qualities of
materials and the breathing rhythm of color together shape the visual cadence of the
composition, inviting viewers to encounter an improvised visual poem within blurred
boundaries.

This series of Year of the Fire Horse Door God prints, set against a red and gold
ground, represents a powerful act of reconstruction. Intense vermilion reds combined
with scattered gilded accents create a strong sense of ritual. Lines surge wildly like
flames, as the artist deconstructs symbols of folk belief through a modern lens. With dynamic, tension-filled black forms carved in flowing gestures, she endows these
ancient figures with renewed spiritual intensity.

At the core of Chen Jane ’s practice lies a sustained exploration of emotional life. She does not confine herself to a single medium or style; instead, she allows diverse
artistic languages to serve as pathways for understanding both self and world. Her
work reveals a creator of sincerity and courage—one who dares to delve deeply into
the folds of the inner spirit, while also embracing the warmth and immediacy of lived experience, continuously cultivating her own artistic trajectory through an ongoing
dialogue between tradition and modernity.
